Second Engineer Officer (watch)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Engineer background with a 2nd Engineer ticket (III/2) or above, preferably with experience on passenger ships.
• Fluent in English.
• Contract length: 3 months on and 3 months vacation. (STCW courses are now mandatory to apply for this position!)

Key Result Areas (KRAs):

1. Lead assigned watchkeeping officers and crew in operating engine room machinery and equipment safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulations, with a focus on ETCC requirements.
2. Monitor, control, and troubleshoot engine machinery equipment while on watch.
3. Conduct and coordinate maintenance activities, ensuring accurate recording in the computerized maintenance management system per Company policies.
4. Report any engine space machinery or equipment damage or malfunction promptly to the First Engineer and raise work orders accordingly.
5. Manage hotel defect chits and distribute them outside normal working hours efficiently.
6. Conduct comprehensive briefings during watch handovers, ensuring all relevant departmental information is communicated.

Staff Development/Management:

1. Cooperate with the First Engineer Officer to guide watchkeeping engine officers and crew in safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of engine machinery and equipment.
2. Assist in conducting onboard training for watchkeeping officers and crew.
3. Provide accurate and timely performance evaluations (including performance improvement plans) for watchkeeping engine officers.
4. Assist in training and orientation for new-to-vessel or first-contract engine watchkeeping officers.
