Fitter Mechanic

Primary Responsibility of the Role:

  • Perform daily repair and maintenance tasks on all engine room machinery and equipment, including main and auxiliary diesel engines, high and low-pressure boilers, pumps, air compressors, and coolers as directed.
  • Provide maintenance support within the Hotel Services area to ensure the operational efficiency of mechanical equipment, promptly addressing any defects.

Experience / Qualifications:

  • Hold relevant professional qualifications/certificates such as Apprenticeship, City & Guilds, or NVQ, or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working as a Mechanical Fitter, including proficiency in using lathes and milling machines, welding, and pipe fitting.
  • Good command of written and spoken English, with a passing grade in the Marlins English test of Proficiency if applicable.

Certificates:

  • Possess a valid ENG1 medical certificate or equivalent for the duration of each voyage.

Technical Skills:

Ship Systems and Equipment Maintenance:

  • Perform servicing and maintenance routines on ship systems and equipment as directed.
  • Ensure efficient operation of machinery and equipment by conducting preventative maintenance and responding promptly to reported faults.
  • Conduct fault finding and repair on auxiliary systems and hotel equipment.

Trade Skills:

  • Undertake planned maintenance diligently as directed, reporting completion with any defects identified.
  • Efficiently carry out assigned tasks and repairs.
  • Follow instructions and plans accurately to ensure high-quality repairs.
