AAQS Engineer

  • Perform maintenance on AAQS (Air Quality Assurance Systems) equipment that is not covered by other teams, ensuring compliance with classification, flag state, and company standards. This includes systems such as Scrubber, Emission Monitoring System, and Catalyzer (CDF) if applicable.
  • Verify the proper function of all AAQS measuring instruments, including exhaust gas analyzers, sensors, and safety devices.
  • Conduct required checks of compliance monitoring equipment to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure the compliant and efficient operation of AAQS systems.
  • Adhere to Engine Room Resource Management standards set by the company and be capable of performing as Ops Director.
  • Maintain effective communication with and provide regular reporting to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Attend the daily engine officer’s morning meeting to discuss AAQS-related matters and address any deviations from normal operation.
  • Enforce HESS regulations within the assigned area of responsibility and provide or delegate relevant training as needed.
  • Maintain AAQS records and data storage in accordance with legislation and company requirements.
  • Oversee the Planned Maintenance System (PMS), carry out maintenance duties assigned to the position, and ensure accurate maintenance data updates.
  • Order spare parts for AAQS equipment and verify their correct delivery.
  • Comply with requirements of the Quality Management System (QMS) and Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Plan, evaluate, and supervise dry docks and external repair/service activities related to AAQS.
  • Support and promote an effective and sustainable health and safety culture onboard, strictly following HESS regulations and any Health and Safety Protocols, and report any observed violations to the Head of Department.
